November: Events and Classes to Grow Your Missouri Business

Hello November! 

If you’ve ever thought that there should be a master calendar of events happening all over Missouri that support entrepreneurs in building their businesses, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to MOSourceLink and our monthly event updates! 

We include events from our Resource Partners (those are the 500+ nonprofit organizations in our network that offer no- and low-cost services to help you start, grow and accelerate your Missouri business) as well as other cool happenings from organizations on the entrepreneur scene. 

This month is special with some huge collaborations taking place, keep reading and make sure you register ahead of time.

November 1-9, 2019: STL Startup Week, St. Louis, Mo.

Experience the programs, the spaces and the biggest annual events of the startup community. STL Startup Week is a great place to learn about the resources available for powering your startup and growing your company. There will be 14 co-working spaces that will have programming and opportunity to test their spaces out and activities geared toward students K-12 and educators in STEM fields from organizations like CyberUp and Launchcode. 

November 18-22, 2019: Global Entrepreneurship Week, Springfield Mo. and Kansas City, Mo.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a celebration of doers, dreamers, makers and innovators who create jobs, solve problems and bring ideas to life. While both cities are hosting, everyone from all locations are welcome at both.

Over at efactory in Springfield, Mo., the week’s events will focus on education, TED talks, and (free!) co-working on site. Register now for programs about winning government contracts, tech meetups and more.

Depending on which is closer to you, you can also attend GEWKC, where there will be over 100+ events covering topics that help you and your business, as well as great networking opportunities. It’ll be held in the historic 18th and Vine District.

November 4, 2019: Global 1000 Black Business and Tech Exchange Night, St. Louis, Mo.

Every Monday, Global 1000/Ferguson 1000 feature outstanding speakers to educate on economics and the trends in the marketplace. This event will have John Parker, director of media/communications St. Louis Development Corporation, speaking on all the development projects coming to St. Louis. Also, Jared Arms, crypto currency specialist, will be sharing the opportunities in Crypto Currency. Bring your ideas and learn how to grow your business and get assistance at this free event. 

November 7, 2019: Codefi Anniversary Party, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Codefi turns five years old this year! They are inviting everyone out to celebrate all the wonderful things they’ve achieved, like helping to create 200 jobs. Join Codefi from 5 – 7:30pm, for hors d’oeuvres, adult beverages and a major announcement we are excited to share. The dress code is casual and RSVP is required to attend.

November 8, 2019: Embracing Building Rehabilitations and Development While Educating Local Investors on Preservation Tools, Moberly, Mo.

Brought to you by Missouri Main Street Connection, learn ways to match preservation projects with local investment and tools that will contribute to the development in your community. This session will take you through the steps of local development including how to identify and implement historic preservation projects for adaptive reuse of historic properties, possible tax credit projects, funding options, historic preservation grants, creative matches and more. 

Presenters will have case studies to show the process and help find creative solutions to problems and concerns. They will also share successes, tips and tools to help you avoid some of the pitfalls of historic preservation. Understand redevelopment using state historic tax credits and how Missouri not-for-profits and local governments can redevelop historic buildings using state tax credits. These are all important aspects of creating an environment that promotes redevelopment. The last hour of this session will be a panel discussion with all presenters — come prepared to ask questions about your own building preservation needs.

November 13, 2019: Analyzing and Managing Cash Flow, Joplin, Mo.

This training hosted by the Missouri Small Business Development Center at Missouri Southern State University is designed for those who want to know how to turn financial statements into useful management tools. During this course, participants will take a close look at where cash comes from, where it’s used in day-to-day business and learn to identify and correct cash flow problems. Registration is required. 

November 19, 2019: Smart Start: Developing a Successful Business, West Plains, Mo. 

The Ozarks Small Business Incubator knows it’s easy to become overwhelmed in the early stages of launching a company. Learn the first steps to starting your own business and how to pave the way to success. This workshop will outline the first steps you need to take, how to create a business plan and how to get a handle on the finances from the start. The deadline to register is Nov.15, 2 p.m.

November 20, 2019: Central Missouri Business Leaders – A Networking/Education  Gathering, California, Mo.

On every third Wednesday of the month, Moniteau County Regional Economic Development holds a gathering to support entrepreneurs in their business journey. Stop by to network, watch fellow business owners and entrepreneurs present, provide and receive community feedback and watch a presentation geared toward your growth.
